I've been on a year long journey with the faces I have created, and the textures I have played with. Along the way I have been inspired by many different artists especially those who's love was mixed media, but one stands out in particular and that is Kelly Rae Roberts, I just love the grunginess of the backgrounds today I put the final touches to my work and for the first time ever I am well and truly proud of where I have landed.

Making a face
Hiya
Its not my first blog, but on this new site it most certainly is. I have wanted to create a blog that I could use to have a conversation with my inner self. If you think thats deep please don't worry at college we are often being told to have conversations on paper ( I am a graphic designer) and I also think that I don't get to share my inner thoughts often enough , not my arty ones anyway lol.
I have always had a fascination with faces and now I can't stop drawing them. Most of the time the faces emerge out of the paper other times I use my own face as my muse. Self portrait is expressive and allows us to see ourselves in a creative way rather than just the reflection of ourselves.
Who is my inspiration, there are quiet a few actually, Kelly Rae Roberts is one, and her style has most certainly influenced me a great deal as has Mogdigliani who's elonged faces set him apart from the rest.
I am going to attempt to go from start to finish on my first face for this blog. I will cut this out at a later stage to incorporate into a pre- prepared background board I should be able to glue the to, add hair , body bits, to begin to make a collage
